Masirah Island is OMRAN's flagship eco-tourism vision, covering 650 square kilometers of pristine coastline, sand dunes, and marine reserves. The design centers around low-density master planning (a mere 2% footprint) to protect the island's famous bird sanctuaries and turtle nesting beaches. The architectural language fuses traditional Omani fort-inspired monumentality with contemporary cubic shapes, whitewashed plaster, and wooden mashrabiyas. The master plan introduces low-light pedestrian-first paths to prevent light pollution, recessed sunken pools that create natural microclimates, and sustainable primary loop roads connecting the major zones—including the majestic Ocean Gate arrival harbor.
