The Opera and Ataba Squares witness prosperous urban culture. Due to an in-homogeneous prospect, an aim of development is uprising along with historic conservation of Opera and Ataba Squares’ area, to be a cultural, recreational, and commercial spot. Since it reflects great prospect of cultural significance, the master plan report enhances development efforts that shall be applied within the Opera and Ataba Squares’ area. In addition, it reveals historical urban environment providing such means as a central place within Greater Cairo. The fulfillment of this goal will be an important step in realizing the government’s vision for Greater Cairo while once again drawing the world’s attention to the unique history, architecture and urbanism of this central zone.
Not only because of its architectural and urban value but also for the adoption of the concept of sustainability and preserving the values of such monuments for generations to come, and to add a touch of civilization to such heritage and use it to develop the economy of the areas where it falls, serving the national economy as well as improve the living conditions of the citizens and business owners in such areas.
Create a pedestrian urban place that balances and integrates all movement modes.
Recall the image and the identity of the city.
Respect and enhance the historical characteristics within the heart of the city.
Encourage appreciation of the area as an historical cultural capital.
Create a traffic solution for the heart of Cairo related to Cairo 2050 strategic plan.
Enable sustainable and innovative solutions that will improve lifestyle quality.
Create New Azbakeya Park with the historical spirit to be one of the downtown green heart.
Create a live boulevard (entertainment cultural Pedestrian Boulevard) connecting Khedivian and Islamic Cairo.
Revitalize and upgrade the downtown of Cairo city as a culture central core that is vital and tourist-oriented.
Regain the spirit of the past by developing and reusing the historical pattern of the city.
Implement new investment opportunities (tourism, /Commercial, services) to raise the inhabitants’ life standard.
Use water, landscape features, and public art as well as extending the green areas to the streets and public open spaces in order to achieve a friendly environment for inhabitants.
